What is a medicine poem?

My training is in poetry and the healing arts.  For many years I have been crafting bespoke occasional poems to honor life cycle moments, moments of grief and of spiritual significance.  Poems to honor the creation or dissolution of parterships.  Poems to honor the dead and to support our grieving for our earth and for what we have lost.  I have found that these poems are deeply received by the recipient and that they provide a healing experience.

What I have learned in my two decades of practice is that attuned listening and compassionate reflection make a good deal of the healing realtionship possible.  What I have also learned is that beauty that captures the multiplicity of experience moves us into a felt sense of the divine and shifts us into the vibration of healing and feeling deeply.  

I am called to offer a unique service, healing poetry. This offering is both the creation of a poem which you can use in any way that serves you and a healing and generative diadic experience. 

Here is how it works

We will meet for a heart-to heart conversation in which I will listen to the music of your voice, your story, I will take notes and ask questions.  I will invite you to submit a piece of automatic or free formed writing in responce to some prompts tailored to illicit a quality of your experience.  You will be invited to submit images, a voice note, or any other artifacts that might illuminate your poem.  You will receive your poem within 2 weeks.  

This poem can be a tribute to a person you love or a set of questions rendered poetry.  You can gift this service to an elder or a new parent or a person in a space of grief. I have found that writing poetry for members of circle or for my yoga therapy clients has been a remarkable tool towards developing atunement and memorializing the mystery of what happens in that space.  It’s like capturing light, a spiritual portrait, a soul gift.

The monetary exchange for a Medicine Poem is $400.
This includes a 30 minute virtual meeting + the completed poem within 2-weeks of meeting.
